ATLANTA, March 31, 2010 – Fran Mitchell, Director of Clark Howard Consumer Action Center (CAC), held a panel to train the volunteers who answer over 400 calls per day from callers across the U.S. The primary subjects? Loan modifications, short sales, credit, and foreclosure. Executive Director Anne Batte of Operation Restoration joined Wells Fargo "subject matter expert" William Merrill and Hugh Rowden, Wells Fargo VP Client Relations, Cathy McDaniel, educator, American Real Estate University, and Ruth Trembley, HUD, in an in-depth 3-hour panel session.
"No one talked over each other.. in fact they supported each other. The questions were meticulous and answers were meaty," observed Batte. "The volunteers now know more than the general public and will be better equipped to direct callers to the correct resources."
With the help of their own volunteers, in November, 2009, Operation Restoration, a national non-profit, uploaded free, web-based education online so that Borrowers would have a one-stop location to obtain verified facts about foreclosure prevention.
"When I was with the volunteers, there was a spirit of partnership, We are all temporary lifelines to people in trouble. When you educate, people become empowered and can make decisions without fear. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to support the efforts of the CAC." Batte continued, "Our mission will always be available to provide free senior level assistance and facilitation with Servicers.
